Chapter 1340

Hannah’s laugh sent shivers. “So you’re saying I attract trouble and have made myself a target for others?”
The tension between them was thick. Even Maloney was surprised by their drama.

It was all for show though. Why were Bryson and Hannah so serious?
Seeing them squabble, Maloney stepped in as the peacekeeper. “Mr. Mitchell, watch your words. Hannah isn’t one to go looking for trouble. Any disagreements should be faced head-on. Targeting folks like this is just plain wrong!”
Seeing things heating up between Bryson and Hannah, Remington jumped in. “Miss Moore, no need to fret. Since this involves you, I’ll ensure they investigate thoroughly. With cameras everywhere, anyone trying to pull a fast one won’t get away with it.”
Hannah shrugged it off. “If Mr. Lyons says so, I’ll take your word for it.”
Remington threw in, “There is a horse race event later so I hope this little showdown won’t rain on your parade.”
“After all this, you still up for a party?” Maloney quipped.

Bringing up the recent bummers, Maloney stirred the pot with Remington.
Remington shot Maloney a frosty look and Maloney just grinned. “Oops, my bad. I must have said something out of line.”
Despite Maloney’s jab, Remington reassured, “We’re beefing up security for future events to keep you all safe.”
Bryson, cool as a cucumber, remarked, “You never know when the next hiccup’s going to hit.”
Hannah spoke up. “I’m down to roll but I have a favor to ask.”
Remington glanced at Hannah. “What’s on your mind?”
“I brought my crew with me but now they’re missing so I feel quite uneasy.”
Hannah pleaded, “I need them.”
Getting her drift, Remington nodded. “Take your crew along.”
“Thanks, Mr. Lyons.”
Hannah thanked Remington and left with Maloney. Maloney, trying to lighten the mood, tossed in, “Turning a setback into a bargaining chip, eh?”
Hannah, all business now, shot back, “Maloney, Remington was not behind those incidents!”
“What makes you say that?” Maloney asked, turning to Hannah.
“The incidents yesterday and today might have caught people’s attention, but I don’t think it’s the kind Remington wanted for this event,” Hannah explained as they walked side by side to the car that would take them back to the villa. “He invited everyone here to secure partnerships, not to drive them away like this.”
Maloney gave her words some thought and said, “You have a point. He even kept our people away to avoid attracting tension to the event.”
Hannah’s expression hardened. “But despite his efforts, those unfortunate incidents happened, immediately making the Juarez and Delgado families want nothing to do with Remington. The Juarez family, in particular, is mad as hell. None of this is looking good for the Lyons.”
